Dr. Richard Warner moved to Aurora, CO with his wife and two baby daughters in 2006 from Santa Monica, CA after retiring from the Chiropractic field to resume a career in the fitness field as a strength and conditioning coach, exercise specialist and more recently, a certified stretch therapist. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Northland College with a BA degree in Psychobiology before pursuing a degree as a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Southern California University of Health Sciences. Prior to and during chiropractic college, he became a personal trainer and while in practice, specialized in the treatment of sports injuries and rehabilitation. Over the last 30 years, among other certifications, he has earned certification as a Certified Sports and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, certification as a Performance Enhancement Specialist, Corrective Exercise Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer, all through the National Association of Sports Medicine. More recently, he became certified as a Functional Medicine Health and Wellness Coach through the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy affiliated with the prestigious Institute of Functional Medicine.
He joins our office as a stretch exercise therapist, where he will perform assisted full body or isolated stretching and body work technique to achieve focused symptomatic relief of overused, strained or injured muscles and soft tissue. The sessions are either one hour or half an hour in duration and will be accompanied by gentle and effective soft tissue release, all meant to assist in the healing process, reduce pain and inflammation and increase functional range of motion. In addition, as part of his service, he will recommend stretching and exercise programs to complement the in-office sessions. Richard strongly believes that motion is medicine, best achieved by stretching in concert with chiropractic care and exercise.
A bit about Rick’s other passions- he is an accomplished drummer, he loves playing chess and fishing. He writes poetry, loves hanging out with his daughters and his dogs. He has been practicing the Medicine Wheel Souix belief since a teenager and has lived in his tipi for many months at times. He is also an avid tennis player and Lakers and Broncos fan.
